Sparkly New Year's Eve Makeup Look

On New Years Eve I really love going  to town with my makeup and wearing something that probably is a bit OTT for a normal evening. This means A LOT of glitter on the eyes!

So to create my super sparkly New Years Eve makeup look I used the following products:

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Dark Spot Correcting Primer - I love this stuff. It keeps everything in place all day and feels lovely on the skin. I used this all over my face after moisturising.
  • Loreal Lumi Magique Primer - this really illuminates your skin. I do love wearing it all over but today I decided to just use it along my cheekbones, nose and cupids bow.
  • Loreal Infallible 24 hour Matte Foundation - I'm not usually into matte foundation but I really love this one as it perfects the skins and stays put all day. I blended this in using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.
  • L.A. Girl Pro Conceal - I have unfortunately inherited dark circles from my lovely family members, so really struggle with finding a concealer that hides them without creasing or looking cakey.  This concealer hides circles and spots and stays put, perfect for all nighters!
  • MAC Paint Pot in Lets Skate - this is beautiful! It's a lovely nudey pink with gold flecks of glitter which really catch the light. I used this all over the lid for my first layer of glitter.
  • Gold glitter eyeliner - this is just a random glitter eye liner I found but any should do. I layered this on top of the paint pot to really add the extra glitz! Make sure you let it dry before fully opening your eyes and doing the next step.
  • Tanya Burr Eyeshadow Pigment in Starry Night - this is a black pigment with flecks of fine glitter. I used this to create a cut crease. To create a real sharp line I used tape from the corner of my eye to the end of my eyebrow.
  • Rimmel Glameyes Liquid Eyeliner - this is my favourite liquid liner, I just find the brush really easy to use. I created a really strong feline flick with this.
  • Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara - I used a coat of this before I added my false eyelashes.
  • Tanya Burr eyelashes - I got these in my advent calendar and they didn't have a name, but they are really thick and dramatic, these look perfect for an evening look.
  • Nars Laguna Bronzer - (forgot to photograph it, ooops!) I used this to add a bit of warmth and contour my face.
  • MAC Gentle Blusher - a plum blusher with a sheen applied to the cheeks.
  • Topshop Highlighter in Polished - this is a cream champagne coloured highlighter which adds a lovely glow. I added this along the top of my cheek bones, cupids bow and nose.
  • MAC Half 'n' Half lipstick - then to finish it off I used the Half 'n' Half lipstick which is a wonderful nude.
And voila that's it! Here are a couple photos with it all on. Excuse the poor quality, I didn't have my camera to hand.

I know it seems a lot but for a special evening it's worth it!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I'd love to see some of your New Years Eve makeup looks, so please leave a comment and link down below.

Tanya Burr Deck The Halls Advent Calendar Review

Well what a great first 12 days of December where I got to open Tanya Burr's Deck The Halls Advent Calendar every morning. Today was the first morning without it and I'm pretty gutted, so I thought I'd do a quick review of the beauty calendar.

As you may have guessed from the previous paragraph the advent consists of 12 festive doors, each hiding an exclusive special edition product from Tanya Burr's beauty range. This is my first ever beauty calendar and I only decided to get it due to already being a big fan of Tanya herself, her products and the price of it. It was originally £25 but had £10 off in Superdrug at the time of purchase. For the price I think the quality is absolutely amazing and Tanya has definitely not skimped out!

Inside the box you get:

  • 2 nail varnishes - Carnival Nights and Under The Sea
  • 3 lip glosses - Macaroon, Candy Frost and Bewitching
  • 2 sets of eyelashes
  • 2 eyeshadow pigments - Creme Brulee and Starry Night
  • 2 nail files
  • 1 mirror
How amazing is all of that for just £15? The products are beautiful and perfect for the Christmas season. I decided to open mine during the first 12 days purely for the fact I can use them all for the Christmas festivities!

Under The Sea
Carnival Nights
The 2 nail varnishes are both glittery with Under The Sea being more silvery and green and Carnival Nights being a mix of bright sparks. These are perfect for layering over some simple nail varnish colours as it is not very opaque to use by itself.

Candy Frost

Bewitching

Macaroon
I'm sorry but I just need to talk about the new smell of Tanya's lip glosses. As if they didn't smell delicious already they now literally smell like vanilla cake mixture. I just want to eat it all.

These glosses have great pigmentation, smell great, feel buttery on the lips, smell great, aren't sticky and smell great (did I mention that already?!).

Creme Brulee

Starry Night
These are both very beautiful pigments with very little fall out. I've been wearing Creme Brulee pretty much everyday and have received lots of comments. Even my boyfriend Simon liked it!

The eyelashes add an extra special touch. I will be saving the thicker ones for new years eve and the other ones for Christmas day. I was already a big fan of her eyelashes already so was very chuffed to receive 2 in the pack!

Overall I think Tanya Burr has done an amazing job with the Christmas Advent Calendar and I would definitely buy it again if she does one next year and recommend you all do too!

Have you got a beauty advent calendar this year? Leave a comment below with any recommendations or thoughts.

Hope you had a good weekend.

No7 Match Made Service

Last Thursday the lovely ladies from Drake Circus' No7 invited myself and a few other bloggers to their Christmas Blogger Event, to talk us through their Match Made Service.

All of us were split into groups of two where we then had a makeup consultant each to get the perfect match for our foundation.

This little nifty shifty device helps stop you making the horrid mistake of picking up the wrong shade of foundation and looking like an oompa loompa or ghost.

Basically how it works is they place the device on your jawline twice (each side once) and it then takes 200 photos of your skin with LED light to match you up with your perfect shade of foundation. This machine took 5 years to pull together and was tested on 2000 women to ensure they covered every shade. No7 now have 12 different foundation colours suitable for different skin types, and to make it better, once you know you're shade of foundation they can then show you what concealers, lipsticks and blushers would suit you best.

The lovely Charlotte did my base makeup using my new specially picked foundation. I have to admit I was really impressed with all the products that were used on me. For someone with quite sensitive skin I worry using new products, but all of them were really gentle and gave me a beautiful, natural dewey look which is exactly what I asked for!

Not only did we get to enjoy a lovely pamper, but they also gave us a couple of their Christmas goodies to take away.

One - how great do they look and two - how great are the products inside?! These presents are absolutely adorable and would make the perfect gift for someone special. What's even better is that they're inexpensive so they won't go breaking the bank.

I loved how my skin looked after the event and I was really impressed with all the products used on me.

If you're stuck in a bit of a rut with your makeup or want to get a lovely Christmas present for someone, I'd definitely recommend popping into your local Boots where I'm sure they'd be more than happy to match you up or help you out!

Have you tried the Match Made Service yet?

H&M Beauty

I finally had the chance during the Christmas Light Switch-on to pop into my local H&M and buy some of their brand new beauty products. Boy am I impressed!

There was so much choice that I really struggled to reign it in and stop myself from buying every single item. In the end I decided to buy a couple sets and four of their beautiful nail varnishes.

L-R: Copper Penny,Verdigris, Metallic Lavender and A Winters Tale

I decided to go for quite wintery, festive and glittery nail varnishes to get me into the spirit, but there was every colour you could imagine; and how cute are the names? I've currently been wearing Copper Penny and Verdigris layered on top of each other, and to me they look great! The nail varnishes applied easily, dried quickly and so far after 4 days wear there has been no chips.

I thought Verdigris was a really strange name to call the glitter varnish, but once I googled it I actually found out it is the name for a green pigment obtained through the application of acid to copper plates. The name completely makes sense now as it does have specs of copper and green.

So there you go, a pointless fact for you this weekend. The nail varnishes were just £3.99 each but I think I also spotted some sets as well.

Cinnamon Roll

Chin Chin

Supernova
I also brought The New Nudes Smoky Eye Trio which contains the High Impact Eye Colours. This gorgeous set would make a perfect Christmas present for a nude shadow lover, and it is really inexpensive for the quality of the product. This set was just £14.99. I believe you can also get the set with more silver/black shades as well if that is more to your taste.

Purple Reign

Sunrise Pink
The final thing I brought was the Lip and Cheek duo set, this includes a full size Cream Lip Colour in Purple Reign and a Powder Blush in Sunrise Pink. Again this makes a fantastic present for Christmas and the products are to die for. Sometimes I feel with gift sets they try and shift off their most dodgy sellers, but these are really beautiful wearable colours. This gift set was also £14.99.

If you haven't tried H&M Beauty yet I would definitely recommend giving it ago as well as buying a nice prezzie to give to a family member or friend. The products are great quality and the packaging looks classy and expensive.

Have you tried anything else from the new beauty range? Leave me a comment below of anything else you'd recommend!

Flowery Tea Dress

Firstly I'd like to apologise for the really awkward posing in the corner of my back garden. I've been busy this weekend and haven't really had the chance to go snap happy for the blog, but I'd just had to share this beautiful floral dress which I picked up in the Topshop sale for £20.

The dress not only has a gorgeous pattern but it also has cut out details on the side and 3/4 length flute sleeves which just add an extra something special. To make it a bit more boho and wintery I have just paired it with my cropped faux fur gillet from New Look  along with my trusty boots and ankle socks.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

The Little Suede Dress

This weekend I've actually felt like its beginning to feel a bit more wintery as the weather was so cold and crisp.

Yesterday I popped out for lunch at Royal William Yard with Simon and thought I would grab a quick OOTD. The dress is a lovely faux suede shift from good ol' Primark which I layered over their basic black polo neck for a bit of added warmth! The jacket is River Island and the lipstick is a random berry shade from Tesco, but it's amazing quality.

I hope you all had a good weekend!

Colour Pop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks

All I have been reaching for and putting on my lips recently is the Colour Pop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I didn't think I was really a fan of matte lips until I tried these bad boys. I got two nude shades (because you can never have enough) in Solow and Shimmy.

These liquid lipsticks have beautiful colour, strong pigment and last all day even after eating and drinking; I never have to worry about re-applying!

They can feel a little drying when you first put them on but that soon fades and I then forget I'm even wearing it. They can also  be a bit tricky to apply and I imagine the darker colours being even worse, because although they go on like a lipgloss, they dry very quick which means if you slip outside the lines a little its hard to correct and you end up looking more like Pete Burns than Kylie Jenner. I'd definitely say outline your lips first with a pencil if possible or remove some product off the wand and very carefully outline your lips before colouring them in.

The only down thing about this product and Colour Pop in general is that they don't currently ship to the UK but I have found a seller on eBay who sells all sorts of American goodies that we can't get our mitts on over here so easily.

Have you tried these before? If so let me know what other colours I should try next.

Hope you had a good weekend.

The Autumn Tag

The lovely Abiee Lucas tagged me in the Autumn Tag the other day. I've never done a tag before so I thought why not. So hear goes..

1. Favourite Candle
Well this is a bit of a awkward first question... if truth be told I don't ever light candles. I love the smell of candles and always buy them then forget to light them and they become more of a dust collector. During Autumn though I love warm smells like spiced apple, it just excites me for Christmas.

2. Favourite Lip Colour
I love bold lips all year round but my favourite for the Autumn time is either MAC New York Apple, Ruby Woo and Colour Pop's Liquid Lipstick in Solow.

3. Favourite Drink
This is a no brainer it has to be a good old hot chocolate with all the trimmings. I like making it over the stove with milk as I just think it tastes so much nicer.

4. Favourite Blush
Its another MAC product and it is a baked blush called Gentle. Its basically like a dark plum purple with a sheen running through it. Sounds a bit much but looks lovely on.

5. Favourite Clothing Item
My favourite clothing item is a faux fur scarf. I just through it over any of my jackets and it just instantly dresses it up and keeps you really warm as well.

6. Favourite Movie
It's got to be Home Alone 1 or 2. I know its more of a Winter film as its Christmassy but who cares as soon as Septembers over i'm in the zone for Christmas.

7. Favourite TV Show
Pretty Little Liars Halloween special any day. I just love that show and it just gets creepier in October. Who doesn't love it?

8. Favourite Thanksgiving Food
I don't celebrate Thanksgiving as i'm from England, but from what I gather its pretty much a roast? If so it has to be yorkshire puds or roast potatoes.

9. Favourite Halloween Costume
I've never gone out as an adult on Halloween so haven't dressed up for it in ages. When I was younger I was always the token witch with an mask and minging teeth. Now I love watching all the YouTube videos of all the amazing make up and special effects they do. I'm actually going out this year and I'm considering being a mermaid that's been caught by a fishing hook. Sounds really random but I've seen a picture idea and it looks really good if I can get the makeup right.

And that's all the questions done with! I now tag...

The Fringed Jacket

Sorry but I just had to feature these bargain Topshop jeans all over again. I'm currently loving all things 70's at the moment especially this faux suede fringed jacket from Primark. It was only about £20 but it really adds a bit of texture and excitement to an outfit.

I hope you all had a good weekend and like the outfit!

Quick Update

These past few weeks have been crazy and I just haven't had the time to schedule or post any blog posts for a while, which I apologise for! It just seemed like everything came at once.

On August bank holiday weekend I went to Reading Festival with my friend Tori and it was absolutely amazing. Kendrick and Mumford and Sons were incredible and definitely my highlights. When I came back for Reading I was literally home for a day before jetting off to Canada (Fernie B.C.) with Simon to stay with family for 2 weeks. Canada is such a beautiful place, I just couldn't get over all the views and scenery. It was definitely a much needed break.

Anyway the week before Reading and Canada came around I had applied for a new job as a marketing assistant at a different company. Then all of a sudden I had two interviews, got the job and had to hand in my notice at my current job and get all my work done for while I'm away. It was manic and I was getting so stressed with all the packing and work to be done in such a short amount of time, and I'm usually so organised! I'm super excited to start my new job next Monday (28th) though.

I thought I'd share some photos of Reading and Canada then I will be back with my good ol' regular posts again next weekend.

Hope you all had a nice weekend!
